Smartphones and other portable devices have made people accustomed to being able to access Wi-Fi wherever they might be. Wireless access is quite easy and many people do not realize that there is a difference between their home Wi-Fi and business Wi-Fi.

Home Wi-Fi devices will most often feature support for 2.4 GHz and for 5 GHz bands, intelligent band selection, and SSID. Users can control internet access and isolate the private network from a guest network.

A commercial or business Wi-Fi setup is a bit more complex. The protocol is more involved, and the bit rates are increased. This is because there are always going to be more people using a business Wi-Fi signal than a typical home router.

For many people who are currently working from home and have children at home who are using the internet for their school work, knowing the difference between these types of routers is important. If you are finding that your current router is not strong enough for all of your usage, switching to a business Wi-Fi set up for your home might be ideal.
